Posting Art

If you feel you want to post your progress, please feel free to do so. It is by no means a requirement or something that needs to be done on a daily basis, since we will be going over it during class. It will give me a chance to look at your work, and address any questions about it that come up during the week. Please be aware that due to time constraints I will not always be able to comment on your work during the week.

The first post

Dela would you like us to post our ideas and drawings here daily or should we leave this blog mostly for group announcements and post our personal stuff on our own blogs?

Lots of the SJSU students already have blog pages, which I have linked to on my blogpage if you haven't seen them already. This goes out to anyone on the list: If you have a personal website or online portfolio, please share it with us. My portfolio is You can see my art as well as all my lecture notes from past SJSU guests and staff.

Looking forward to a great semester!

What's due Next Week

Just a recap from class. What you need for next week is a chosen theme and ideations on that theme with some color on the ones that are working for you. Also your goals for the class and a note book. If possible I would like to have you bring in a copy of your portfolio from last semester.

I have sent out an invite to the students in the class so you can all post on this blog. I'd should be very simple to sing up, especially if you already have a blog. If not and there are any problems we can touch on it in class.

Assignment 1

Assignment 1

A hole in one.

Imagine you are an Imagineer who has been hired to create a new and amazing miniature golf course that will be the centerpiece of a new themed resort.

Your job, using the design process, is to create a single hole for this miniature golf course based on a specific theme. Being themed, this golf course can take on a variety of directions. The direction you chose to take can be fun and ridiculous, scary, or serious in tone. Remember to explore multiple ideas within your given theme.

Some things I will be looking for,
The design of the surrounding environment. Think of the path or paths the player needs to take in order to complete the hole. There can be more than one.
Articulated moving parts, this can be merely a visual aspect or a functional aspect of the players experience.
Keep in mind this will be viewed during night and day time, the design should hold up for both times.
Include 2D patterns and designs based on your theme.

“The real artist’s work is a surprise to himself.
The big painter is one who has something to say.
He thus does not paint men, landscape, or furniture,
but an idea.”

- Robert Heni

The world around us.

In addition to posting information on the class I will also be posting links of sites and blogs I feel are not only useful for what we are working on but inspiring as well.

Welcome to the BFA blog

This blog is set up to post project descriptions and answer questions that come up during the semester. I'll also be posting what we will be doing on up coming weeks such as demos, exercises, or guests that might be stopping by.
